Anglo Restarts Giant Brazil Iron Ore Mine After Repairs (1)

Anglo American Plc is restarting operations at its Minas-Rio iron ore mine in Brazil, which was halted earlier this year for inspection and repair of the pipeline that transports its production to the port.

The company conducted a detailed technical inspection of the 529-kilometer (329-mile) pipeline, preemptively repaired certain sections of the pipeline and has received the regulatory approvals to resume operations.

The restart, announced Dec. 21, won’t be a surprise as the company previously said it would resume operations at Minas-Rio before the end of the year.

Anglo shut down the pipeline in March after it sprang two leaks....
