Carbon Storage, Direct Air Capture Bill Gains Momentum

A bill that has already gotten bipartisan Senate backing to spur underground storage and direct air capture of carbon dioxide emissions gained momentum Thursday, as top House Energy and Commerce Committee Democrats praised the measure even as they called for significant changes.

The House USE It Act (H.R. 1166) introduced by Reps. Scott Peters (D-Calif.) and David McKinley (R-W.Va.), backs more research into underground storage and direct air capture and would streamline permitting of carbon capture projects, including pipelines.
