China’s Solar Market Looks to Brighter 2020 as Policy Ironed Out

China’s solar market is set for a buoyant 2020 after regulators finally settled on a development plan for this year that will provide the industry a better sense of where the nation’s policy is heading.

Demand will be “better” in 2020 than this year, said Liu Yiyang, deputy secretary-general of China Photovoltaic Industry Association, without giving specific estimates. This comes as installations slumped more than 50% on-year in the first six months of 2019 as developers waited for Beijing to offer direction by releasing its final solar policy, which was delayed until earlier this month.
