Interior Advisers Suggest Boosts for Solar, Wind, Fossil Fuels

Solar energy development could be accelerated on federal land with policy changes to cut fees and other project costs, according to a committee that advises Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke.

The department also would accelerate leasing for offshore wind energy and reduce environmental analysis needs for some oil and gas projects if the recommendations that advisers discussed in a June 6 meeting in Albuquerque, N.M., are put into effect.
