More Than 100,000 Homes in Puerto Rico Don’t Have Power: Lawmaker

More than 100,000 Puerto Rican homes are still without power six months after Hurricane Maria devastated 80 percent of the island’s electricity grid, Republican Rep. Jenniffer Gonzalez-Colon, Puerto Rico’s nonvoting member in Congress, said.

“The most important situation on the island is power,” Gonzalez-Colon told reporters after a March 22 House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on the federal hurricane recovery efforts in Puerto Rico.
