Norwegian Energy Company Abandons
Plan to Build Turbines Off Maine Coastline

Statoil, a large Norwegian energy company, announced that it is pulling the plug on a $120 million plan to erect four floating wind turbines off the coast of Maine.

The company, whose Hywind Maine project would have generated 12 megawatts of energy and would have been the first floating wind turbine project in North America, dropped its plans Oct. 15.
