Fuel suppliers in Sweden will be required to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by mixing biofuels with gasoline and diesel under new rules that go into effect July 1.
The regulation, published April 12, will clarify fuel suppliers’ obligations ahead of a switch to the new emissions reduction model, the nation’s Policy Coordination and Energy Ministry said.
Fuel suppliers such as Statoil ASA currently have no legal obligation to blend biofuels with conventional fuels. Instead, the addition of biofuels is incentivized by tax deductions.
