Some companies that use boilers to produce steam may be on the lookout for energy alternatives after Taiwan imposed stricter air pollution standards.

The new rules, which now are in effect, set limits on emissions of particulate matter, sulfur oxides, and nitrogen oxides to 30 milligrams per cubic meter, 50 parts per million, and 100 parts per million, respectively, said the Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration.
