President Donald Trump has nominated Mary Neumayr, a former House Energy and Commerce Committee staffer, to chair the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
Neumayr currently serves as chief of staff at the council, which coordinates and facilitates environmental policy issues across federal agencies.
The previous nominee for the position, Kathleen Hartnett White, withdrew from consideration after bipartisan opposition emerged to her views on climate change and other environmental issues.
