Vale Terminal in Brazil Allowed by Court to Resume Operations

Vale SA can resume operating an iron ore terminal in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro state after a court lifted a suspension imposed by the city of Mangaratiba.

The city on Jan. 31 suspended Vale’s operation of the terminal on Guaiba Island off the city’s shoreline because it didn’t have an environmental license.

Vale said in a March 18 statement that a court decision the same day lifted the suspension and that it “has the permits and authorization needed to conduct activities at the terminal.”
