Wheeler Rebuked for Panning Climate Study After Lone Briefing

President Donald Trump’s pick for the EPA’s top slot came under fire from a Senate Democrat for saying that a broad 2018 U.S. climate assessment was more a collection of worst-case scenarios than a balanced scientific review.

Andrew Wheeler, the EPA’s acting chief who is awaiting Senate confirmation as permanent administrator, also said Jan. 16 that he has held one briefing on the findings of the latest National Climate Assessment, a congressionally mandated report drawn from experts from a dozen federal agencies and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
