Saputo Inc. Fined After Cheese Guillotine Kills Worker

Saputo Inc., Canada’s largest dairy processor, was fined C$187,500 ($145,845) after a worker was killed by a cheese-cutting machine.

The Ontario Court of Justice levied the fine May 1 after Montreal-based Saputo pleaded guilty to failing to ensure a pinch point was guarded, resulting in the worker’s death, the Ontario Ministry of Labour said May 1.
