Worker Safety Panel on Verge of Losing Industry, Union Members

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is on the brink of clearing the chairs at the panel that it relies on for advice on construction safety.

As of July 18, when the terms of the final six members are set to expire, no employer, union, public, or state representatives will be left on the panel of safety experts. The terms of eight other members expired in 2017.

Emptying the committee without naming new participants could slow the agency’s efforts to revise construction regulations or initiate rulemakings, attorneys who follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration policies told Bloomberg Environment.
